WHO ARE THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE ASSOCIATION?
PATRON- JACK THOMPSON AM Jack Thompson is an icon of Australian cinema. In 2002 he was made honorary member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS). He is best known as a lead actor in several acclaimed Australian films including popular classics Sunday Too Far Away (1975), The Man from Snowy River (1982) and Breaker Morant (1980) for which he won Cannes and AFI acting awards. He was the recipient of a Living Legend Award at the 2005 Inside Film Awards. Most recently Jack starred in Baz Luhrman’s Australia. Jack is also an accomplished musician and patron of the Gearins Hotel in Katoomba. A passionate supporter of the performing arts community for many years, his contribution to our committee is invaluable.

CHAIRMAN - JOHN HUNTER John has been involved in television production for the past 28 years, and is the managing director of John Hunter Media Pty Ltd, based in Warrimoo. Established in 1992, John’s company has produced thousands of programmes for corporate, government, education and not for profit clients. A Mountains resident since 1976, John is a former president of the Blackheath Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the CAMS National Historic Commission.

JOANNE SAMUEL Joanne’s career began at the early age of five, working in amateur theatre. She then went on to study and graduate from the Independent Theatre in 1972. This complimented the diverse training with Honeybrooks dance studio where she learnt ballet, tap and jazz. Joanne has 30 years of film, television and stage experience working for companies such as Crawford Productions, Grundy Television, ABC Joanne’s first feature film role was as Jesse Rockatansky in the iconic Mad Max. This role teamed her with many now world famous names in film. Then a string of “tele” features followed.Joanne has also taught drama as a guest lecturer in NSW TAFE.

GEOFFREY K WEULE JP For more than 50 years Geoff has been actively involved in the Music Industry and for 20 years served with EMI in Australia and the UK and a further 8 years with News Limited in their Music Division. Geoff is Principal of Walsingham Classics and Walsingham Marketing. His marketing expertise has helped shape the careers of many notable Australian artists including, Mark Holden, John Farnham, Julie Anthony, Little River Band, AC/DC, Mike McClellan, just to name a few. He recently retired as Senior Lecturer in Business Studies at TAFE ENTERTAINMENT. He is a member of the Academic Board of the SAE Institute and Qantm College and is the Past-President of the Blue Mountains FOOTBEAT FESTIVAL. He is President of the Blue Mountains Wildplant Rescue Inc. Foundation. Geoff resides in Katoomba and is a member of Publish Blue Mountains.
